COVID-19 Information

COVID-19 UPDATE
Kingston has moved into Grey Status (Lockdown)

What does this mean for you as a student?

Indoor dining is currently closed. Seating is prohibited and not available in dining halls or retail locations.

Take-out meals only available

Take-out instructions:

You are required to use the Queen’s SeQure App for self-screening and show green status before lining-up to collect your take-out order.

Screening of patrons is required. You are required to self-identify if you:

  • Have been experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, difficulty breathing, muscle ache, headache, sore throat, and/or runny nose.
  • Have had contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
  • Have been instructed by local public health authorities to self-isolate due to travel or contact history.

Remember: COVID-19 location expectations still apply while waiting in the take-out order line.

  • All patrons are to be 2 meters apart while in line.
  • Face coverings are required.

A province-wide shutdown began on Dec 26, 2020, requiring dining halls and retail locations on campus to move to take-out only. If you are required to be on campus, we have implemented a new web-based Order Food Online tool that will allow you to order your meals ahead of time from the dining halls only. Students are currently not able to order food ahead of time from our open retail locations on campus. This tool will be used until our mobile ordering app launches later this semester.

By using the web-based tool, you will be able to select and customize the items you would like from the daily menu and schedule the time you would like to pick them up. You are able to schedule up to 3 meals each day for pick-up. We encourage you to use this tool to limit contact, avoid busy periods, and alleviate the line ups in the dining halls.

Meal Plans and food safety

Hospitality Services is working hard to ensure that we continue to nourish success through best-in-class dining experiences where our guests can thrive. We want to assure you that we are working with Kingston Public Health on increasing safety measures and will continue to follow and monitor all food safety standards and updates as outlined by local authorities.

Some of the procedures and policies that can be expected in our retail locations and dining halls include physical distancing policies, barriers, and cleaning standards. These policies and standards will be important to keep both our students and staff safe during these times. We are committed to providing our students with safe and nutritious meals.   Visit our Hospitality Services website to learn more about our meal plans, available dining halls, retail outlets, and resources for allergies and special diets.

Grab and go options at Location 21

Our services will continue to provide a variety of healthy food options while keeping with recommendations from Kingston Public Health. Visit our incoming student resources page to learn more about what we are doing in response to COVID-19 to keep your student safe on campus.   Students with special diets and food allergies should complete the Hospitality Services allergy intake form online here before arriving on campus. To learn more about dining options on campus, please visit our dietary needs resource page.

What food locations will be open?

We will have many food locations open on campus to serve the Queen’s community, including all three dining halls and select retail locations conveniently located across campus. Meal plans includes many choices, including 19 all-you-care-to-eat dining hall meals per week, along with trade a Meals (TAM) and Flex dollars to use at our various food retail locations.

Our dining halls will have limited capacities and seating for student’s safety and only served options will be available. We are working with our culinary team on exciting new dining hall menu rotations for each dining hall so you can look forward to unique dishes and flavours. Take-out at all dining halls will be encouraged wherever possible.
