COVID-19 Information

April 3, 2021

The Government of Ontario has announced that a province-wide shutdown will be in effect from April 3, 2021, at 12:01 am for four weeks. During this time, all retail and dining locations will move to take-out only. We encourage students to plan their meals ahead of time to avoid peak times. Please refer to the list below for off-peak times for our retail and dining locations. Students are also required to self-screen using the Queen’s SeQure App before picking up take-out meals.

COVID-19 UPDATE
Kingston has moved into Grey Status (Lockdown)

What does this mean for you as a student when visiting dining halls and retail locations?

Indoor dining is currently closed. Seating is prohibited and not available in dining halls or retail locations.

Take-out meals only available

Take-out instructions:

  • Screening of patrons is required. You are required to self-identify if you:
    • Have been experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, difficulty breathing, muscle ache, headache, sore throat, and/or runny nose.
    • Have had contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
    • Have been instructed by local public health authorities to self-isolate due to travel or contact history.

Take-out and online ordering is available for all students and is encouraged.

We have implemented a new web-based Order Food Online tool that will allow you to order your meals ahead of time from the dining halls only. This tool will be used until our mobile ordering app launches later this semester.  By using the web-based tool, you will be able to select and customize the items you would like from the daily menu and schedule the time you would like to pick them up. You are able to schedule up to 3 meals each day for pick-up. We encourage you to use this tool to limit contact, avoid busy periods, and alleviate the line ups in the dining halls. For specific information regarding picking up your take-out order, please refer to your order confirmation.

Remember: COVID-19 location expectations still apply

  • All patrons are to be 2 meters apart while in line.
  • Face coverings are required.
  • Please follow directional arrows and signage.
  • Stand on the physical distancing floor stickers.
  • Use hand sanitization stations provided.

Meal Plans and food safety

Hospitality Services is working hard to ensure that we continue to nourish success through best-in-class dining experiences where our guests can thrive. We want to assure you that we are working with Kingston Public Health on increasing safety measures and will continue to follow and monitor all food safety standards and updates as outlined by local authorities.

Some of the procedures and policies that can be expected in our retail locations and dining halls include physical distancing policies, barriers, and cleaning standards. These policies and standards will be important to keep both our students and staff safe during these times. We are committed to providing our students with safe and nutritious meals.   Visit our Hospitality Services website to learn more about our meal plans, available dining halls, retail outlets, and resources for allergies and special diets.

Grab and go options at Location 21

Our services will continue to provide a variety of healthy food options while keeping with recommendations from Kingston Public Health. Visit our incoming student resources page to learn more about what we are doing in response to COVID-19 to keep your student safe on campus.   Students with special diets and food allergies should complete the Hospitality Services allergy intake form online here before arriving on campus. What food locations will be open?

We will have many food locations open on campus to serve the Queen’s community, including all three dining halls and select retail locations conveniently located across campus. Meal plans includes many choices, including 19 all-you-care-to-eat dining hall meals per week, along with trade a Meals (TAM) and Flex dollars to use at our various food retail locations.

Our dining halls will have limited capacities and seating for student’s safety and only served options will be available. We are working with our culinary team on exciting new dining hall menu rotations for each dining hall so you can look forward to unique dishes and flavours. Take-out at all dining halls will be encouraged wherever possible.
